Welcome to Miller Turnings!

I enjoy working with wood, both in a natural state and in segmented projects. Beginning with a donated Shopsmith machine from my father, I have started to learn how to use a wood lathe to produce bowls, vases, and other assorted items. Most of my projects are given away as presents, the rest tend to occupy shelf space in the china cabinet.

I am a member of Segmented Woodturners, a “specialty” chapter of the AAW (American Association of Woodturners). Feel free to visit their site for more information on segmented turning, and to visit the gallery showcasing some of the best work from around the world.

The second Segmenting Symposium was held November 11th-14th, 2010 at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It featured many classes and demonstrations by leading craftsmen in the art of segmenting. Visit the Segmented Woodturners website for an upcoming report and DVD on the symposium.
